BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Women's Soccer team remained perfect at home last week, going 2-0 with back-to-back shutout victories over Clayton State and Albany State.
On Monday afternoon, the Peach Belt Conference announced its weekly Player of the Week awards, and Sand Sharks goalkeeper Ciazia Powe was named Goalkeeper of the Week.
In the first match of the week, USCB defeated Clayton State 4-0. Powe played the second half, totaling 45 minutes, making four saves, and helping preserve the shutout while facing nine total shots.
In the second game a win over Albany State, Powe recorded four saves in 72 minutes of action, facing six shots and anchoring the Sand Sharks to their second consecutive shutout and fourth clean sheet of the season.
Powe becomes the second Sand Shark this season to earn a Peach Belt Conference weekly honor. Jasiah Pack was previously named Player of the Week for the week of September 15.
USCB hits the road for two matchups this week taking on Middle Georgia on Wednesday at 5:30 PM, followed by a Saturday contest against Georgia College. The Sand Sharks return home on October 8th to face Georgia Southwestern.
