BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team closed out the past week with a player earning Player of the Week honors in the Peach Belt Conference. Sand Sharks Taelor Chang earned PBC Player of the Week after an impressive five-game stretch.
Chang played in five games, helping lead the Sand Sharks to a 3-2 week and a doubleheader sweep over Edward Waters on March 3. She finished the week hitting .571 with a .625 on-base percentage, hitting three home runs while driving in eight runs and scoring four. She totaled eight hits on the week.
In the opening game against Edward Waters, Chang helped lead the Sand Sharks to a 15-0 victory, hitting three home runs and driving in seven runs while also drawing a walk. In game two of the doubleheader, she added a hit and scored a run in the 5-0 win.
During the weekend conference-opening series, Chang reached base in all five games. In the opening game of the series, she recorded a walk before adding a hit and an RBI in game two. In the final game of the series, she went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate, including a double.
Chang becomes the third Sand Shark to earn a conference weekly award this season. Madison Murphy previously earned Pitcher of the Week honors, while Chloe Turner was named Player of the Week earlier in the season.
USCB returns to action at home this weekend against Lander for a three-game series beginning Friday night at 6:00 p.m.
