HARDEEVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team opened a three-game series against Lander University on Friday evening at home. The Bearcats used an eight-run third inning to take an 11–0 lead before closing out a 20–1 victory.

USCB was led at the plate by Nicholas Barcelo, who recorded two hits. Noah Campbell, Cooper McDaniel, Mack Cromer, and Terry Dean each added one hit. Campbell scored the Sand Sharks' only run.

Braden Welch pitched two scoreless innings while striking out two batters. Ryan Tayman also delivered a scoreless outing, striking out the lone batter he faced, and Nick Underwood added a scoreless appearance as well.

Lander jumped on the board early with a three-run home run in the first inning after a walk and a single to start the game, giving the Bearcats a 3–0 lead.

The score remained 3–0 until the third inning, when Lander went for eight runs on six hits. The rally began with a two-RBI double, followed by another double, before a two-RBI single extended the lead to 8–0. A bases-clearing, three-RBI triple pushed the score to 11–0 by the end of the top of the third inning.

USCB got on the board in the bottom of the third, as Noah Campbell crossed the plate after being driven in by Robinson.

Lander added four more runs in the sixth inning and followed with a five-run seventh inning to extend its lead to 20–1.

In the bottom of the seventh, Mack Cromer hit a leadoff double but was left stranded as Lander secured the 20–1 run-rule victory over the Sand Sharks.

USCB returns to action Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. to continue the three-game series against the Bearcats.
