Palm Beach Gardens, Florida — The University of South Carolina Beaufort Men's Golf team opened play at the National Preview at PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, hosted by Nova Southeastern.
The Sand Sharks closed out day one in ninth place overall at 28-over-par as a team. Florida Southern leads the team leaderboard, while Davis Daigle sits atop the individual leaderboard. The Sand Sharks were led by Benxing Shi.
Shi finished day one at 1-under-par tied for 11th after opening with a 1-under 71 in round one and an even-par 72 in round two. He finished the day with a 143 (71-72). Shi recorded four birdies, tied for the second-most on the team, while also tying for the team lead with 27 pars. He also recorded the team's lone eagle of the day, coming on hole six during his second round.
Nikolai Holme was the next Sand Shark on the leaderboard, sitting tied for 36th overall after carding a 77 in the opening 18 holes followed by a 75. Holme finished the day at 8-over-par. He completed the two rounds with 21 pars and four birdies.
Leif Breede finished the first day with a total of 153 after rounds of 77 and 76. Breede recorded a team-high seven birdies along with 19 pars through the opening 36 holes.
Jake Heinrich finished the afternoon with a 156 after rounds of 80 and 76. Heinrich recorded 20 pars on the day while adding three birdies to his scorecard.
Alex Yuill finished the two rounds with a 169 after scores of 83 and 86. He sits in 57th overall on the leaderboard. Yuill recorded two birdies and 18 pars on the day.
Justin Charoy, competing as an individual for the Sand Sharks, finds himself tied for 30th overall with a 151 (+7). Charoy opened with a 75 in round one before carding a 76 in round two. He recorded four birdies and 22 pars through the first 36 holes.
The Sand Sharks will close out the National Preview tournament on Tuesday, September 29th with the final round in Palm Beach Gardens.
