Chris Rooney enters his second season on USCB’s coaching staff in 2025, serving as Head Coach Brian Lewis’ pitching coach.
A native of Sandy Hook, Virginia, Rooney joined the Sand Sharks after serving as pitching coach for the Alexandria Aces, a collegiate summer league team in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League. Over two seasons with the Aces, the team compiled a 55–17 record and captured two division titles. Under Rooney’s guidance, the pitching staff led the league in both wins and strikeouts.
In addition to his work with the Aces, Rooney spent three seasons as a head coach and pitching coordinator for PrimeTime Baseball, Northern Virginia’s premier baseball academy.
Prior to that, he was a member of the Liberty University coaching staff from 2018 to 2020 and served as a volunteer assistant at Averett University in 2017.
Rooney earned his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management from Liberty in 2017, followed by a Master’s degree in Sports Management – Athlete Coaching and Administration in 2020, also from Liberty.
