Pat Cottrell

Pat Cottrell joined the USCB coaching staff prior to the 2015 season after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at Alabama Southern CC. 

Under Cottrell's leadership, the Sand Sharks have ranked in the top 25 in the NAIA in hits per game and runs per game in each of the past two seasons, ranking 10th in hits per game (10.704) and 17th in runs per game (7.37) in 2015 and ranking 14th in hits per game (10.741) and 22nd in runs per game (7.828) in 2016. 

Cottrell was an all-conference infielder at Jefferson Davis CC and West Florida before being drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 33rd round in 2004. He played five seasons in the minors, reaching the Double-A level before beginning his coaching career.

Cottrell spent 
two years as infield coach at Pensacola State College and West Florida, where he was on staff for 2011 NCAA Division II national championship team at West Florida, before moving to Alabama Southern and eventually landing at USCB.

Cottrell lives in Beaufort with his wife, Jen, who is an academic advisor at USCB, and their son, Case.
