Zach Roberts joined USCB as assistant baseball coach in August 2016, continuing his long working relationship with head coach Jeremy Christian.
Roberts was a two-way player for Christian at Virginia Intermont College from 2008-12, earning a B.A. in Sport Management with a minor in Business Administration. He then joined Christian's coaching staff and had a hand in the Cobras posting a 31-18 mark in 2013 – the program’s highest win total since 1997 – and a runner-up finish in the AAC Tournament.
When Virginia Intermont closed its doors in 2014, Roberts followed Christian to Point University, where the duo immediately elevated the program to new heights. The Skyhawks posted the best conference record in their history in his first season and in year two finished with school records for wins (34) and conference wins (17) before claiming the Savannah Bracket and advancing to the Avista-NAIA World Series for the first time.
“Zach has been with me for several years and knows the ins and outs of our complex system. I have complete faith and trust in him and the job he does and I’m ecstatic to have him on board here at USCB,” Christian said. “Zach is a very talented coach with a diverse background. He can handle both offense and pitching and excels in recruiting so he is definitely in high demand within the college ranks. His abilities as a coach will help us continue the mission of Sand Shark Baseball and allow us to compete at the highest level.”
