Edward Waters (0-2) at No. 21 USC Beaufort (6-0)
The University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team looks to continue its undefeated start when the 21st-ranked Sand Sharks host Edward Waters for a non-conference doubleheader Monday at Richard Gray Sports Complex. The games originally were scheduled for last Wednesday but were rescheduled because of rain. The Sand Sharks have not seen action in more than a week since sweeping a pair of games against NCAA Division I opponents in the Savannah State Lady Tiger Softball Tournament on Feb. 10. USCB beat Morgan State 10-2 and topped host Savannah State 10-4. USCB outscored Edward Waters 57-0 in four meetings last season.

NOTES
• The Sand Sharks are 30-2 all-time at Richard Gray Sports Complex, including a 4-0 mark this season.
• USCB has scored seven or more runs in each of its six games and has scored 10 runs in four contests. The Sand Sharks have not allowed more than four runs in any game this season.
• Four of USCB's six games have ended because of the 8-run mercy rule. The Sand Sharks won 18 games by the mercy rule last season.
• USCB boasts one of the prolific offenses in the NAIA so far this season, ranking third in the nation in slugging (.639), fourth in batting average (.399), sixth in hits per game (10.5), sixth in runs scored per game (9.167) and eighth in home runs per game (1.333) as of Feb. 17.
• USCB's pitching staff has been outstanding, as the Sand Sharks rank 18th nationally in team ERA (1.94) and 29th in opponents' batting average (.227). Sophomore RHP Kristy Cook ranks 13th in strikeouts per nine innings (13.14), and relievers Becca Hewitt and Ashlie Layman have yet to allow an earned run.
• The Sand Sharks swept the first Sun Conference weekly honors of the season on Feb. 11, as junior SS C.J. Browder picked up Player of the Week honors and freshman RHP Ashlie Layman was named Pitcher of the Week.
