Coastal Georgia (4-3) at No. 12 USC Beaufort (12-2)
The University of South Carolina Beaufort softball team looks to remain perfect at home when the 12th-ranked Sand Sharks host Coastal Georgia for a non-conference doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday at Richard Gray Sports Complex. The Sand Sharks are riding a four-game winning streak during which they've outscored opponents 29-2 and allowed two hits in each game. The Mariners also have won four straight including victories over Sun Conference teams Ave Maria and St. Thomas.

SCOUTING COASTAL GEORGIA
The Mariners have swung the bats well in the early going, boasting a .391 team batting average (sixth in NAIA) and scoring 7.857 runs per game (17th). Christine Braddy leads the offense, batting .667 with eight RBIs through seven games. The pitching staff, led by Stacey Ward (1-2, 2.41 ERA) has been solid but has been hurt by 25 errors.

• USCB is 31-8 all-time in March and has won at least 12 of its first 14 games in all three seasons of the program's existence.
• USCB is 57-7 all-time at Richard Gray Sports Complex and 63-9 in games played in the state of South Carolina.

• USCB has claimed at least one of the two weekly Sun Conference awards in each of the first three weeks of the season. Sophomore Ashlie Layman and junior Kristy Cook each have earned Pitcher of the Week honors once and juniors Mariaha Sanborn and Chelsey Blasingame each have picked up Player of the Week honors.
• The Sand Sharks rank in the top 10 in the NAIA in three batting categories: hits (sixth, 139); doubles (seventh, 26) and home runs per game (10th, 1.0).
• Juniors Mariaha Sanborn and Chelsey Blasingame have been USCB's hottest hitters of late. Sanborn is 17-for-24 (.708) during her seven-game hitting streak with five doubles, two home runs, 13 RBIs and seven runs scored over that stretch. Blasingame is 15-for-23 (.652) during her eight-game hitting streak with four doubles, six RBIs and seven runs scored.
• USCB pitchers have combined for 95 strikeouts, third-most in the NAIA. Sophomore Ashlie Layman is 13th nationally with 40 strikeouts and she and junior Kristy Cook are tied for 10th in wins (5).
