Lewallyn Ties Sofield As #SandSharkBaseball Finishes Sweep Of FMU

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort completed a three-game sweep of its Sun Conference series at Florida Memorial on Sunday, winning 5-1 and 15-5 as Bryan Lewallyn tied Rick Sofield as the program's winningest head coach with his 100th and 101st victories.

Jamie Strock tossed a four-hitter in the first game of Sunday's doubleheader, working around four walks and striking out three. Ashly Morris went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and scored twice and Zack Holt had two hits and two RBIs for the Sand Sharks.

USCB erupted for five runs in the sixth and seven in the seventh to end the finale early via the 10-run mercy rule. Zack Saldivar went 2-for-4 with three RBIs and scored three runs and Johnny Cole was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and a run to lead the offense. Morris, Michael Johnson, Chaztin Venezia and Josh Reinhart each added two hits apiece. Gage Roth allowed five runs on seven hits over five innings for the win and Paxton Buckner and Kutler Lane each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

The Sand Sharks (14-4, 6-3 TSC) hit the road again this week, traveling to Brewton-Parker for a non-conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. Tuesday before going to Thomas for a three-game Sun Conference series on Friday and Saturday.
