THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort baseball team ran its winning streak to eight games and swept a second consecutive Sun Conference series on Saturday, beating Thomas 8-2 and 7-1. 

USCB improved to 19-4 overall and 9-3 in Sun Conference play, remaining one game behind league leader Northwood. The Sand Sharks' 19 wins and nine conference wins both match last season's totals. 

Jamie Strock (4-2) tossed his second straight complete game in the opener, striking out six and allowing one earned run and eight hits. Ashly Morris paced the offense by going 4-for-5 with three runs and an RBI and Michael Johnson knocked in three runs. 

Gage Roth (2-0) pitched seven strong innings for the win in the finale, allowing one run on three hits with six strikeouts, and Kutler Lane struck out three over two scoreless frames. Johnny Cole blasted his third home run of the season, Kyle Thompson had two hits and an RBI and Josh Reinhart drove in two runs. 

The Sand Sharks improved to 8-0 on the road and look to continue that trend this week with a doubleheader at Middle Georgia on Tuesday, a single game at Benedict on Wednesday and a three-game Sun Conference series at Northwood on Friday and Saturday.

NOTES: Cole walked four times in the doubleheader and has 27 bases on balls this season, one shy of RJ Neal's single-season USCB record set in 2012. … USCB has scored seven or more runs in 17 of its 23 games and recorded 10 or more hits in 16 contests. … USCB starting pitchers gave up five earned runs in 23 innings in the series.
