LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's soccer team dropped its first road game of the season, falling 6-0 at Georgia Gwinnett on Friday.
The match was a defensive struggle for the first 15 minutes before the Grizzlies scored a flurry of three goals in 11 minutes, including two by Nikki LeFevre. Georgia Gwinnett added one more goal before halftime for a 4-0 lead and tacked on a pair of goals in the second half.
The Sand Sharks were unable to muster much of an attack, managing only six shots (one on goal) after peppering 51 shots in their first two games.
Freshman Randi Anzek played the first half in goal for USCB before senior Emily Mentrup took over for the second half. Both goalkeepers made one save.
The Sand Sharks (0-2-1) are back in action at 2 p.m. Sunday at Reinhardt (Ga.).
