The USCB women's soccer team aims for its first victory of the season when the Sand Sharks host Truett-McConnell for a nonconference contest on Saturday. The Sand Sharks will play a home game off-campus for the first time, as unplayable conditions at Fin Land Field forced USCB to move the game to DeVaul Henderson Park in Richmond Hill, Ga. USCB will be busy this week, also welcoming Tennessee Wesleyan on Monday and Florida Tech on Thursday to round out a three-game homestand. USCB played to a 1-1 tie against Bethel (Tenn.) in its most recent home game on Aug. 23.

SCOUTING TRUETT-MCCONNELL

Since opening the season with a 1-0 loss to Campbellsville (Ky.), Truett-McConnell has won its past two games by a combined 5-0 score. Freshman GK Lexi Kent has played every minute in goal this season, allowing only one goal in 270 minutes (0.33 GAA) while making 10 saves and posting two shutouts. Freshman F Abbey Thompson leads the team with two goals, while senior D Jo Cook and sophomore MF Chelsea Norton each have netted a gamewinner. The Bears, who have had a nine-day layoff since their 3-0 win at Brewton-Parker on Aug. 26, have outshot their opponents 74-16 through their first three contests.

NOTES

THIRD GAME'S A CHARM: The Sand Sharks earned their first home victory in their third game at Fin Land Field last season and hope to duplicate that feat Saturday. The slow start at home didn't hamper USCB last season, as the Sand Sharks finished 5-4 at home including victories in their final three games at Fin Land.

TOP OF THE CHARTS: Senior MF Alexa Muffley is USCB's career leader in goals (11) and points (26). Muffley, who had her 2014 season cut short by an injury suffered in the opening minutes of the season's second game, took over the career lead in points with an assist in the season-opener vs. Middle Georgia.

GEORGIA ON OUR MIND: Four of USCB's first five games have been against teams from the state of Georgia, and the Sand Sharks will face a total of seven regular-season contests against teams from the Peach State.

PREZZY P: Senior MF Pascale Rocca netted the first multi-goal game of her career against Middle Georgia, scoring both of USCB's goals in the second half. Rocca, who also is the USCB student body president, has six career goals and already has matched her high for a season, tying her two goals each as a freshman and sophomore.
