Box Score 2 BABSON PARK, Fla. — The USCB softball team once again rallied in game two to manage a split of a Sun Conference doubleheader, rebounding from a 4-2 loss in the opener to win the second game 4-3 Sunday at Webber International.
The Sand Sharks grabbed an early lead in the first game, going up 1-0 on Bailey Craven's RBI grounder in the third inning, but the Warriors answered with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Craven's RBI groundout in the fifth cut it to 3-2, but Webber International got that run back in the bottom of the inning and USCB couldn't muster a rally in the final two innings.
Alexa Moore, Taylor Boyett and Brodie McGregor each had two hits for the Sand Sharks. Allie Rogers took the loss, allowing four runs and 12 hits over five innings.
The Warriors struck first in game two, as Kayla Montgomery's solo homer in the second innings opened the scoring, but McGregor's RBI single tied it in the top of the third.
The Sand Sharks took a 2-1 lead on Moore's first career home run in the fifth, only to see the Warriors score twice in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead. USCB rallied again in the sixth, though, with Kayla Boyle's RBI single tying it and Haley Brown coming home with the go-ahead run on an illegal pitch.
Abby Pac pitched two scoreless innings to preserve the lead and earn the save in relief of Naomi Catt, who allowed three runs and six hits over five frames for the win.
Missy Hughes had three hits, while Boyle, Moore and McGregor added two apiece for the Sand Sharks.
USCB's scheduled home games Wednesday against Columbia College have been cancelled, so the Sand Sharks' next action will be Saturday, when they host Keiser for a Sun Conference doubleheader starting at noon with Senior Day festivities preceding at 11:25 a.m.
