Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

@USCBSoccer Suffers Loss to Southeastern

Bluffton, SC-- Following a touching celebration of the program's senior class, "the senioritas", the Sand Sharks suffered a defeat to visiting Sun Conference Southeastern University (Fla.).

The high-octane offense of the Fire was a bit too much to overcome this afternoon for the Sand Sharks. The Fire were fueled by the conference's leading goal scorer, Uchenna Kanu, who had three goals on the afternoon and fellow star, Konya Plummer, added another goal for the Fire en route to a 9-1 win at Fin Land Field.

After holding a 3-0 advantage at the break, the Fire continued to press the Sand Shark back line, putting more and more pressure on a USCB team which just couldn't find any room to breathe. The Sand Sharks would find a goal later in the 2nd half when senior Karen Pimentel converted a penalty after the Fire committed a foul inside the box.

After the game, Coach Ed Heberling said, "This is never the way you want senior day to go. Unfortunately, we met a very good Southeastern team that was able to keep the pressure on us the entire game. They wore us down in the second half and were able to find the back of the net."

This week offers a lot of drama in the way of Sun Conference standings, with multiple teams vying for only a couple of playoff spots left. The Sand Sharks will need to take care of business next Saturday when they visit Johnson & Wales (Fla.) and then wait for the other conference matches to conclude in order to learn of their playoff fate.
