@USCBSoccer Season Comes to an End at Southeastern

Box Score Lakeland, FL-- The 7th seeded USCB women's soccer team found themselves in an uphill battle early which forced them to open the game with an offensive juggernaut in the 2nd seeded Southeastern University Fire (15-1, 9-1). The Fire found a way to put the ball away 4 times in each half en route to an 8-0 defeat of the Sand Sharks Saturday morning.

The Fire, led by The Sun Conference leading scorer, Uchenna Kanu, were able to break down a bunkered-in defensive line of USCB within the first five minutes of the first half, which caused sooner-than-wanted adjustments from Sand Sharks. The adjustments forced USCB to open up a game with a team that has scored 76 goals on the season, 56 of which have come in conference play.

"Kudos goes to Southeastern today," Coach Ed Heberling said, "They are a very difficult team to play without playing sound defense. We made a couple of key mistakes early that they capitalized on which put us under tremendous pressure."

The first 45 minutes was marked by four goals from the Fire, but the Sand Sharks had opportunities late in the half when the Fire made a couple of substitutions in the back line, but the Sand Sharks were unable to connect in the final third.

The second half saw an altered USCB lineup, which hoped to generate a bit more pressure on the Fire. SEU was able to match their first half production in goals and were able to coast the remainder of the half and into the TSC semi-finals where they will host St. Thomas University (Fla.) on November 7. On the other side of the bracket, Warner University (Fla.) will head to TSC number 1 seed, Keiser University (Fla.).
