»» The USCB softball team continues Sun Conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Webber International. The Sand Sharks own an 8-6 edge in the all-time series while the Warriors won three of four meetings last season, including two in the Sun Conference Tournament.
»» The Sand Sharks entered the season receiving votes in the NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Poll. USCB was picked to finish third in the Sun Conference coaches' preseason poll.
»» USCB has faced a difficult early-season schedule. »» The Sand Sharks have collected 32 stolen bases in 26 games after swiping 53 in 55 games a year ago. Becker (11) and freshman OF Brittany Olean (9) lead USCB on the bases.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Warriors have dropped four of their last five games, including a three-game sweep at the hands of visiting St. Thomas to open Sun Conference play last weekend. Webber's offense is led by reigning Sun Conference Player of the Year Brandi Hazen (.357 BA, 2 HR, 10 RBIs), Laura Borders (.350, HR, 10 RBIs) and Megan Isoba (.341, 5 HR, 15 RBIs). Freshman Raven White (1-0, 1.81 ERA) has emerged as the team's top pitcher early in the season.
