USCB Soccer Drops Sun Conference Match to Thomas University

Thomasville, GA – The USCB women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Thomas University this evening at the TU Soccer Complex.

The Sand Sharks struck first in the 10th minute under unusual circumstances. A pass from the Nighthawks' defender was gathered by goalkeeper Kara Houston. The indirect free kick was awarded just outside the 6-yard box. Freshman Ashlee Pendarvis then struck home her first collegiate goal to put the team up 1-0.
 
It only took seven minutes for Thomas to retaliate, though, as Anna Gray was able to even the score when she took the pass from Kayla Folse and put away the one-on-one attempt against goalkeeper Logan Leask.
 
The second half began with an offensive flurry from the Nighthawks, as they fired five shots in the first five minutes as well as being awarded two corner kicks.

The pressure finally paid off for the Nighthawks in the 70th minute when a missed clearance attempt in the box ended with foul against the Sand Sharks. Taylor Hults then converted the subsequent penalty to put Thomas up for good.

Despite a late offensive push from USCB, the 2-1 score held, and Thomas was able to claim the Sun Conference victory.

USCB will now regroup and head home to face St. Thomas University in their homecoming match this Saturday, October 6. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
