Bluffton, SC—@USCBSoftball is set for four games this weekend. The first two games are set for Friday, February 16, when the visitors from Reinhardt University come to Richard Gray Sports Complex and then Trinity Baptist College comes to town Saturday, February 17. 

The Eagles of Reinhard University will be playing their first games of the 2018 season today against the Sand Sharks. A year ago the Eagles went to the NAIA Opening Round after winning the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship with four straight wins in the tournament. The Eagles were ranked No. 14 in the 2018 NAIA Softball Coaches' Top 25 Preseason Poll that came out on Jan. 16, and were picked to finish second in the AAC.

In Saturday's double-header with the Trinity Baptist College, the Sand Sharks will see a first-year program led by sophomore infielder Kayla Bass, a local girl from Summerville, South Carolina, who currently holds a .385 batting average, and a team-high 5 hits and 2 runs.

The Sand Sharks will look to continue their strong offensive performance from a 12 days ago, when Natassja Hatcher sent two over the fence in each of the first two games of the season. In the first weekend of the year the Sand Sharks went 23-48, batting .479 and scoring 21 runs. 

In their opening weekend, the Sand Shark pitching combination of Abby Pac, Canyon Crosby and Maria Molloseau combined for a .58 ERA, giving up 11 hits and only 1 run.
