Lakeland, Fla.-- The USCB baseball team was unable to steal a game in their series with the Fire after falling in today's double-header 4-6 and 3-9.
In the first game the Sand Sharks found themselves up 4-0 in the second inning when
Tristan Triplett singled to right field, driving in
Hunter Helms.
Chris Vazquez then found space in right to bring homeÂ
Keith Olmo. The scoring ended with
Cole Hamilton hitting a 2-run double to bring in Triplett and Vazquez.
USCB remained up 4-2 heading into the bottom of the seventh before the Fire found three runs to go up 5-4. SEU then added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to close out the game.
The second game found the Sand Sharks playing from behind from the second inning. Playing from behind forced USCB to be more aggressive going forward and finally broke through in the top of the eighth when they scored three runs when Hamilton doubled to bring
Mclean Hartz home.
Noah Matthews hit a sacrifice fly to score Olmo, and Vazquez singled to right field to bring in Hamilton.
The small rally just wasn't enough for the Sand Sharks this afternoon, but they will be back in action Tuesday when they host Benedict College (SC) for a single home game at 3 PM. Be sure to tune in for the game at
