Hardeeville, SC-- The USCB baseball team found itself on the wrong end of the decision this afternoon at Richard Gray Sports Complex, falling to No. 15 Middle Georgia State 13-1.
The Knights used a seven-run third inning to power past the Sand Sharks and put the game out of reach.
The Sand Shark offense struggled to find a rhythm at the plate, struggling to get runners on board, going 5-25 at the plate while earning three walks. The lone score for USCB came in the fourth inning when
Noah Matthews hit a sacrifice single to score
Chris Vazquez, who reached on a walk in his appearance at the plate.
Middle Georgia was able to add four more insurance runs in the fifth inning and were able to invoke the run-rule after the 7th inning.
The Sand Sharks will look forward to this weekend's series with Warner University (Fla.) to get back in the win column when they travel to play the Royals in Lake Wales, Florida. Friday's game is set for 3 pm and Saturday's double-header will begin at 12 pm.
