Sand Sharks Look to Carry Momentum at Florida Memorial on Saturday

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - After winning its first Sun Conference game this year, USCB soccer looks to carry that momentum at Florida Memorial on Saturday, Oct. 12, as the Sand Sharks and Lions will square off at 12 p.m. at Emmanuel "Manno" Sanon Soccer Park.

About USCB

USCB makes the long trek to Miami Gardens, Fla. with a 5-5 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Sun Conference action. The Sand Sharks claimed their first league win on Wednesday, as they upended Warner, 4-2, at Fin Land Field.

In that two-goal win over the Royals, Anna Gignilliat was USCB's biggest offensive threat, as the forward scored all four goals for the Sand Sharks. Gignilliat tallied one goal in the first half followed by a trio of goals in the second half. Her four-goal performance matched the school record for goals and points in one game. She set that mark earlier this year with a four-goal and eight-point performance at Erskine. Gignilliat also brought her season goal total to 11, which is already tied for second-most in a single season at USCB.

Three different Sand Sharks earned assists in the contest in Allison Schaffer, Madeline Matusik and Mina Ljosland. Those three Sand Sharks have combined for six assists this year.

Scouting Florida Memorial

FMU is 0-10 overall this year and 0-5 in TSC play. The Lions haven't scored a goal in the last five games, all league games, and have been outscored by double-digits in four of those contests.

The Lions have three goal scorers this year in Diviana D'Cesare, Laura Reina and Mariana Rincon. Each Lion has scored one goal this year. D'Cesare is the only player that has posted a goal and an assist this year for FMU.

Garcy Momplaisir has started nine of the 11 games for Florida Memorial. She has totaled over 700 minutes and has faced 246 shots this year, 27.33 shots faced per game. Thalita Azevedo has also started in net, and she has 17 saves in two contests.
