MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. - Both USCB soccer and St. Thomas combined for 10 shots on Saturday afternoon, as the Sand Sharks dropped a defensive battle, 2-1, to the Bobcats at STU Soccer Stadium.

How It Happened
STU opened the contest quickly, as it scored the game's first goal in the third minute. Karina Medina recorded the goal for the Bobcats, while Andrea Manzur Wunsch earned the assist on the early goal.
Both team's offenses struggled to find any momentum for the next 27 minutes. STU broke the offensive struggle with a shot, but the attempt sailed high.
On the Sand Sharks' first shot of the game, Baldo knotted the game at 1-1 in the 33rd minute. Baldo worked up the right side of the pitch and snuck her attempt past the STU goalkeeper. Her third goal of the season moves her into a five-way tie for third on the team in goals.
After halftime, St. Thomas had a strong chance to gain the lead in the 54th and 63rd minutes. STU's Sandy Benito and Katharina Jullich posted shots on goal, but Logan Leask saved both attempts.
In its third shot of the second half, the Bobcats regained the lead, 2-1, as Benito found the back of the net in the 75th minute.
STU's defense held USCB's offense in-check for the final 15 minutes to seal the narrow 2-1 victory.
