BLUFFTON, S.C. - The USCB women's soccer team will host its annual Senior Day on Saturday, Oct. 17, as the Sand Sharks entertain league rival St. Thomas at Fin Land Field for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

About USCB
The Sand Sharks welcome St. Thomas to the Lowcountry with a 2-1 overall record and a 2-1 mark in league games.
USCB won its most recent matchup, as it handed Warner a 3-0 defeat at home. Marcela Shartouny scored a pair of goals, while Madison Foshee tallied her first career goal. Aurya Downey played a key role off the bench, as the freshman earned assists on all three goals. Mariah Ruckdeschel was a factor in the shutout as well, as the rookie goalkeeper recorded four saves in the shutout win.
On the year, Shartouny leads the team in goals with three. In fact, she is the only Sand Sharks that has two or more goals during the 2020 campaign. Downey is the only Sand Sharks with two or more assists on the season, as all three came in the shutout win over the Royals.
Also finding the back of the net in the 2020 season is Foshee, Allison Schaffer, Lexi Kaeser and Madeline Matusik. Schaffer, Kaeser and Matusik tallied their goals in the 4-1 season-opening win over Webber International.
In net, Ruckdeschel and Alana Dame have split time between the posts. Ruckdeschel has earned the starting nod in two contests, while Dame started in one. The two goalkeepers have combined for 13 saves and faced 36 shots.
Scouting St. Thomas
STU travels to Fin Land Field with a 4-2 overall mark and a 3-2 record in Sun Conference games. The Bobcats started the season hot going 4-1 with wins over Florida College, Ave Maria, Florida Memorial and Warner. During the Bobcats' four-game winning streak, they scored 11 goals and conceded just three goals. Their only losses of 2020 came against nationally-ranked Keiser and Southeastern (both 5-1 losses).
The Bobcats have five players that have scored two or more goals this year - Karina Medina, Miranda Ferradaz, Leonie Weide, Kayla Jackson and Andrea Manzur. Medina leads the team with three goals scored, but Ferradaz is right behind her teammate, as she has six points (two goals, two assists).
St. Thomas primarily uses one goalkeeper - Melanie Lefebvre. She has started all six games and has totaled over 500 minutes between the pipes. She has 22 saves and has allowed 11 goals.

What's Next?
Due to COVID-19 concerns, USCB's next match against Florida Memorial has been canceled. However, the Sand Sharks' next contest will be on the road, as they travel to Ave Maria on Oct. 24. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. in Ave Maria, Fla.
