AVE MARIA, Fla. - After nearly a month from playing a game on the road, the USCB women's soccer team will travel to Ave Maria to face off with the Gyrenes on Oct. 24 for an 11 a.m. kickoff at Gyrene Field.

About USCB
USCB hits the road sporting a 3-1 overall mark and a 3-1 Sun Conference record. The Sand Sharks are currently on a two-game winning streak and tote a three-game home winning streak.
In USCB's last match versus St. Thomas, the women's soccer team pulled off the victory, 1-0. Aurya Downey netted the game-winning, penalty kick goal in the 75th minute to lift USCB to victory. Freshman goalkeeper Mariah Ruckdeschel was very impressive in the start, as she collected a career-high 11 saves en route to earning her first-ever Sun Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor.
On the year, freshman Marcela Shartouny continues to lead the Sand Shark offense, as the midfielder has three goals and an assist. Right behind her is Downey, despite only starting one match this year. Downey has a goal and three assists, and she is the only Sand Shark with two or more assists in 2020. Four other Sand Sharks have recorded goals this year - Madison Foshee, Allison Schaffer, Lexi Kaeser and Madeline Matusik.
Reigning Sun Conference Defender of the Week Ruckdeshel has appeared in three games this year and has totaled 270 minutes between the pipes. She has allowed just three goals and sports a .875 save percentage. Ruckdeschel has faced 51 shots this year and has saved 21 attempts.
Scouting Ave Maria
The Gyrenes welcome USCB to Ave Maria, Fla. with a 4-3 overall record and a 2-3 mark in league games. They are currently 3-2 at Gyrene Field and also tote a two-game winning streak. In the two-game winning stretch, they defeated Webber International, 5-3, and Florida College, 3-0.
In its seven games this year, AMU has tallied 19 goals (2.71 goals per game) and has allowed 11 goals (1.57 goals per game). The Gyrenes have outshot the opposition 165-71, including 76-48 in shots on goal.
Emily Dalton is the Gyrene's biggest offensive threat, as the redshirt senior has recorded nine goals in seven games. She also has three assists on the year for 21 total points. She is first in the league in shots (55), second in goals scored, second in game-winning goals (4), third in points and tied for sixth in assists.
Three other Gyrene attackers have also netted multiple goals this year in Lauren Brooks, Chiara O'Keefe and Sarah Dalton (two goals each). Brooks and Brenda Tubb are also tied with Dalton for the team lead in assists.
The main player in net for AMU is Maddie Samuelson, as she has started six games and has totaled 555 minutes. She has a strong 1.78 goals against average and a .761 save percentage. She has faced 66 shots and has made 35 saves.
