About USCB/Last Time Out

The Sand Sharks host Warner with a 1-1 overall mark and 1-1 record in Sun Conference games. USCB opened the 2020 year with a dominant 4-1 win over Webber International but fell to No. 4 Southeastern, 3-0, in the first road game of the season.

In the season-opening, three-goal win over WIU, four Sand Sharks tallied goals in the game - Marcela Shartouny, Allison Schaffer, Lexi Kaeser and Madeline Matusik. Also tallying assists in the game were Madison Foshee, Sydnee Metzold and Shartouny.

With her three-point effort in the season opener, Shartouny ranks tied for second in the Sun Conference in game-winning goals (one). She is also ranked eighth in the league in shots per game at 3.5.

USCB has used two goalkeepers this year in Alana Dame and Mariah Ruckdeschel. Dame started versus WIU and picked up her first career win. She tallied three saves in 90 minutes of action. Ruckdeschel also tallied 90 minutes between the pipes, as she started versus Southeastern. She faced 22 shots and recorded six saves.

Scouting Warner

The Royals travel to the Lowcountry with a 3-2 overall mark and a 1-2 record in Sun Conference games. They have only played one game at home and sport a 2-2 record in games away from Lake Wales, Fla.

Warner's offense is led by a pair of threats in Lexi Garcia and Maddie Manzke. Both Royals have a trio of goals scored this year, while four other teammates have tallied a goal in 2020. Manzke also has a pair of assists on the year, as she leads the team in points (8), goals, assists and shots on goal (9).

Sara Machado is also another offensive player to keep an eye on. She has one goal and one assist, and she has ripped 15 shots with nine on frame this year.

Warner has used a pair of goalkeepers this year in Mackenzie Spurling and Gabrielle Barnette. Spurling has seen the most time between the pipes, as she has played in five games with four starts. She has a 2.5 goals against average and has recorded 12 saves this year.

As a team, Warner's defense is stout, as it has only allowed 38 shots in five games (7.6 shots per game), while WU's offense has average 13.8 shots per contest (69 total).
