The Sand Sharks returned to .500 on Saturday with a win, as they are now 4-4 overall and 4-4 in Sun Conference games. Saturday's victory ended a three-game losing stretch and gave USCB its first win on the road in 2020.Â
In the 1-0 win over Warner, USCB maintained most of the possession in the road match and eventually broke through in the 72nd minute when Preseason Player to Watch Madison Foshee recorded the game-winning header. Dina Stalnacke earned the assist, as the go-ahead goal was scored on a set piece. USCB earned the shutout, which was its third of the year.
With Foshee's goal at Warner, there are now four Sand Sharks that have tallied multiple goals this year - Foshee, Marcela Shartouny, Mari Kalvatn and Madeline Matusik. Shartouny has a team-best three goals, while the other three have a pair of goals in 2020. Stalnacke joined six other Sand Sharks with at least one assist this year, as she recorded the assist on Foshee's game-winner versus the Royals.Â
With the shutout, Alana Dame has started four games and totes a 2-2 record. She has a strong 1.23 goals against average and has tallied 19 saves off 53 shots faced. She has over 365 minutes between the pipes and a .792 save percentage.Â
Scouting No. 1 Keiser
The Reigning national champions are 8-1 overall and 7-1 in league games this year. The Seahawks only loss this year came against the 2020 Regular Season Champions Southeastern - 2-1. Since the defeat, Keiser is 2-0 with one-goal wins over St. Thomas (2-1) and Ave Maria (1-0).
Keiser's offense is potent this year, as it has tallied 43 goals in nine games (4.78 goals per game). Leading the charge is Alicia Drott, as the Seahawk has nine goals and seven assists in 2020. Seven other Seahawks have recorded multiple goals this season, including five players with four or more goals on the year.Â
