MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The USCB women's soccer rebounded on Thursday, Feb. 11, as the Sand Sharks dismantled Brewton-Parker, 5-1, in a mid-week, non-conference showdown at BPC's soccer field.

How It Happened
BPC nearly opened the game with a goal in the third minute, when Sarah De Gannes put a shot on frame. However, the Sand Shark team made the save to fend off the early scoring opportunity.
Neither team found momentum until the 12th minute when Kaeser tallied the game-opening goal. Downey collected the assist and gave USCB the 1-0 lead.
Neither team again had a solid chance at goal, expect int he 24th minute when De Gannes again put a shot on goal. However, other than that, neither team found offensive chances until the 40th minute when USCB doubled its lead, 2-0. Downey tallied the goal for the Sand Sharks, which was her fourth of the 2020-21 campaign.
That score stayed the same at the halftime break, as both teams combined for just five shots (four on goal) in the first 45-minute session.
In the 57th minute, Brewton-Parker cut the deficit in half, 2-1, as Kadisha Martina tallied the first goal for the Barons.
Just three minutes later, Downey rippled the net again to retake the two-goal lead.
From the 60th minute on, the Sand Sharks dominated possession, as it collected six shots in the final 30 minutes. Two of those shots were goals, as Shartouny and Matusik saw their names appear on the scoresheet. With the two goals in the last 30 minutes, the Sand Sharks sealed the four-goal win, 5-1.
