BLUFFTON, S.C. - Behind a three-goal first half, the USCB women's soccer team cruised past Georgia Southwestern, 4-0, to capture its first win of the 2021 season on Saturday at Fin Land Field.

How It Happened
The first goal of the match came early, as it was recorded in the fourth minute. The Sand Sharks ripped a trio of shots on frame with the third shot eventually rippling the twine. Kumar and Foshee connected with the first two shots, while Bye-Anderson tallied her first collegiate goal.
The Sand Sharks doubled their lead just 14 minutes later, as Kalvatn posted her first goal of the 2021 campaign. After breaking the single-season goals scored record a year ago, Kalvatn started her junior year with her first goal in the 18th minute. Neal and Beltestad earned the assists, as two Sand Sharks made 1-2 passes to give the Norwegian the goal-scoring opportunity.Â
Up 2-0, USCB added an insurance goal in the 39th minute to pull ahead by three. This time Brodersen tallied the goal, which was also her first tally of the season and fourth of her career.
At the halftime break, USCB was leading 3-0 and held a 10-0 advantage in total shots.
USCB added on yet another goal just 55 seconds into the second half, as Bye-Anderson netted her second goal of the match. Kalvatn earned the assist, as she fed the long ball to the rookie midfielder.
The Sand Sharks peppered the Hurricane net for the next 44 minutes, as they connected with 15 more shots (eight shots on frame).
