LAURINBURG, N.C. - For the second straight game, the USCB women's soccer team shut out an opponent as the Sand Sharks upended St. Andrews, 5-0, on Friday afternoon in Laurinburg, N.C.

How It Happened
USCB started the game quickly by attacking the Saint Andrews net. The Sand Sharks connected with eight total shots with five being on goal in the first 36 minutes.
In the 37th minute, Sand Sharks eventually found the back of the net, when Matusik tallied the goal with an assist from Baldo.Â
That was all the Sand Sharks could muster in the first half, as they totaled 11 shots in the first 45-minute session.
USCB continued to pepper the Knights' goal for the first 20 minutes of the second half, and the Sand Sharks eventually doubled their lead in the 66th minute when Jakobs recorded her first goal of the 2021 campaign.
Just three minutes later, Kalvatn found her way on the scoresheet, as she made it a 3-0 contest.Â
Rookie forward Gaines made it a four-goal contest, with her first goal of her collegiate career. Kalvatn was credited with the assist with the goal scored in the 78th minute.
To put the game away, Kaeser rippled the twine in the 80th minute to push the USCB lead to five.Â
Overall USCB out shot the Knights, 27–5, en route to its first appearance over .500 in the 2021 season.Â
On the year, the Sand Sharks have seven different players that have recorded a goal.Â
