How It Happened
USCB started the contest out slowly, as GGC maintained most of the possession for the first 25 minutes. During that stretch, the Grizzlies connected with four shots and put two on goal.
USCB's Henriette Harr-Haga had a chance to ripple the net in the 19th minute, but her shot was saved.
In the 26th minute, it was GGC who tallied the first goal of the match, as Kyara Armenta split the USCB backline and eventually chipped the ball into the net to take the 1-0 lead.
Just eight minutes later, Kalvatn ripped a shot on goal, but, again, GGC's goalkeeper made the save to hold on to the 1-0 lead.
After a yellow card was shown to a Sand Shark, Ana Da Costa headed the ball into the net off a free kick from Lena Balck.
With the two-goal first half, GGC took the lead into the 15-minute, halftime intermission.
Similar to the game's second goal, Georgia Gwinnett made it a three-goal match in the 48th frame. Narissa Gaither saw her name onto the scoresheet, as she drilled the ball just over USCB's goalkeeper.
Despite being down 3-0, the Sand Sharks attempted to chip away at the deficit, and it did with a goal in the 53rd minute. Kalvatn took USCB's first corner kick of the game from the right side of the pitch and fed a ball into the GGC 18-yard box. Foshee went up and put a head on the ball, which redirected it into the back of the net.
The final chance for USCB to cut into the 3-1 deficit came in the 70th minute off a free kick. Harr-Haga again took the free kick from distance, and she drilled a shot that just missed the crossbar.
Unfortunately for USCB, the Grizzlies made seven substitutions in the remaining 20 minutes to see out the 3-1 win.
