HOW IT HAPPENED

After a 1-2-3 top of the first, USCB took the 2-0 lead in the home half of the inning. Brown started the rally with a single to right center, and Castro plated his teammate with a triple to deep right center. Up 1-0, Meyer scored Castro from third on a groundout to second.

The Sand Shark lead quickly disappeared in the top of the second, as the Tigers plated four runs off four hits.

Down 4-2, USCB didn't cave though, as the Sand Sharks knotted the contest at 4-all. Sellars led off the inning with a double, and Brock Thibodeaux came in to pinch run. Tanner took advantage with a run-scoring hit to right. After a flyout, Nick Milhan put two runners in scoring position off his hit and a Tiger throwing error. Brown cracked a sacrifice fly to right to make the game 4-4.

After having red-hot offenses in the first two frames, both team's offenses cooled off in the third and fourth innings. The two clubs combined for just two hits in that two-inning stretch.

In the fifth inning, both teams had a chance to plate runs. In fact, both clubs put a runner in scoring position, but neither team could score the runner to keep the game level at 4-4.

After a trio of scoreless innings, GC broke the trend in the top the sixth by retaking the lead, 5-4. Kyo Arita plated a Tiger on a RBI groundout to push the lead the one.

Moving into the bottom of the eighth, USCB's offense tied and retook the lead with a two-run frame. Meyer started the rally with a leadoff double, and Russ easily scored his teammate with a triple to right field. After a groundout and an intentional walk, Tanner made it hurt on the first pitch he saw, as he smoked the go-ahead RBI single to make the game 6-5. USCB was able to force the bases loaded but couldn't add insurance runs.

Georgetown didn't go down without a fight though, as it put a runner on second base with two outs, but Perry slammed the door to secure the one-run win.
