HOW IT HAPPENED
After facing four Bobcat batters in the first, USCB's offense kicked off the game with a pair of runs. Meyer reached base on a fielder's choice, and Castro put runners on the corners with his single to center. Andre scored Meyer off another fielder's choice, and Russ then followed with a ringing double to deep left to make it a two-run game, 2-0.
After a quick top of the second, USCB's offense exploded for six runs off six hits and three walks. Thibodeaux, Meyer, Castro and Andre collected run-scoring hits for the Sand Sharks, while Nick Milhan plated the sixth run off a fielder's choice. The six-run frame made it a 8-0 contest.
In the bottom of the third, the Sand Sharks pushed the advantage to 11 thanks to a three-run frame. After two quick outs, Castro scored Meyer on his RBI single down the left field line. Russ and Milhan followed with back-to-back run-scoring base knocks to make it an 11-0 game.
After scoreless fourth and fifth innings, USCB tacked on four more insurance runs to add on to its commanding lead, 15-0. Hunter McKown, Thibodeaux and Robbie Brown recorded the run-scoring hits for USCB in the inning.
Martin closed out the game, as he allowed a run off a hit and a walk, but he did enough to seal the 14-run win.
