Bye-Andersen breaks assists record, Page nets hat trick, USCB cruises in victory over Barons

BLUFFTON -- USCB's women's soccer team made a little bit of history Monday afternoon in a 5-1 victory over Brewton-Parker. Synne Bye-Andersen broke her own single-season assist record and the win gave the Sand Sharks eight home wins, the most in program history.

Savanna Page scored three times - all by headers - while Jenny Hesby continued to impress, scoring off the bench and Mari Kalvatn notched her third career 10-goal season with a header of her own in the 48th minute.

"With limited rest we were able to put on a dominant performance," said coach Jay Harris. "We now focus our attention to Saturday's senior day and for our final game in conference against Georgia Southwestern."

Page scored Beaufort's first goal in just the fourth minute, heading in a cross from Bye-Andersen. The duo connected again 21 minutes later, another Page header, to make it 2-0.

"It's a great feeling to score three goals in a game," Page said. "But I couldn't do it without my teammate Synne (Bye-Andersen). She deserves just as much credit for these goals."

USCB made it a 3-0 game just three minutes into the second half after Kalvatn scored the Sand Shark's third goal via a header after an Eva Kristjansdottir corner. Bye-Andersen and Page connected once more, this time in record setting fashion as the Trondheim native sent a cross into the box from 24 yards out and Page leaped above the Baron defender, putting it past the keeper, giving Page the hat trick and Bye-Andersen her 12 assists on the year, breaking her previous record of 11 from 2021.

"It's always fun to see your teammates score," Bye-Andersen said. "My goal for this season was to give my teammates every opportunity to score, so it's fun seeing that come through."

Brewton-Parker ended the shutout after a penalty kick was award after a foul occurred in the box. Dianna Chako made a 4-1 game, but it was Hesby who made it a four-goal advantage after Ellie Fielding blasted a line drive that ricocheted off the pipes, right in front of Hesby and she scored the Sand Shark's fifth goal.

USCB hosts Georgia Southwestern Saturday afternoon to conclude conference play with a 1 p.m. scheduled kickoff. The Sand Sharks will honor their senior class prior to kickoff with a pre-game ceremony.
