Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - An era of Sand Shark Softball officially concluded Tuesday night after USCB fell to Madonna 11-1 in the semifinal match of the Williamsburg Bracket.
With 371 wins, nine Sun Conference Tournament appearances along with three Sun Conference Championships, a CAC runner up and four NAIA Opening Round appearances USCB's time in the NAIA has come to an end as it will continue making the transition to NCAA Division II.
Mackenzie Freeman, Amber Locasto and Daryn Miller each recorded base knocks for the Sand Sharks and Cierra Kinlaw and Caitlin Toole pitched toed the rubber for USCB.
Making her second start of the tournament, Kinlaw struck out the first batter of the game, but ran into a bit of trouble, allowing two runs before Reynolds napped a runner looking to take third on a base hit up the middle.
The Crusaders continued to put the pressure on, putting together a second two-run rally forcing the Sand Sharks to relieve Kinlaw and bring in Caitlin Toole. Madonna added four more runs taking an 8-0 lead into the bottom of the second.
USCB went down 1-2-3 in the third and MU pushed three more runs making it an 11-0 game. Freeman put USCB on the scoreboard with an RBI single after Miller reached on a dropped third strike.
Locasto's one out single was the last base runner for the Sand Sharks as the next two batters struck out swinging to end the ball game.
