Women's Soccer remains atop PBC standings after draw with Bobcats

BLUFFTON -- In a game in which USCB did not control most of the possession still ended in favorable fashion for the Sand Sharks as they remain atop of the Peach Belt Conference standings - tied with North Georgia with 10 points - after playing to a 0-0 draw with Georgia College Saturday afternoon at Fin Land Field.

For nearly two-thirds of the game, the Bobcats held possession, keeping the Sand Sharks defense busy. GCSU had its best opportunity to score on the Sand Sharks in the 14th minute after an in direct free kick was awarded right outside box. After the first 15 minutes into the second half passed, the Sand Sharks attack took off as it moved the ball well throughout the midfield taking eight shots on the Bobcats' keeper during the half.

USCB's best chance to score came as the clock was winding down in the 89th minute. Synne Bye-Andersen broke free of Georgia College's back line and went one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but the shot was right at Maddie Drake who kicked it away with 30 seconds left on the clock.

Senior goalie Emily Worrell continued her stellar season, earning her third clean sheet of the year and lowered her goals against average to 0.17 which is second-best in Division II.

The Sand Sharks welcome the Lander Bearcats to Fin Land on Wednesday as they continue their four-game homestand. Kickoff for Wednesday's match up is scheduled for 2 p.m.
