Beaufort drop both ends of DH to No. 2 North Greenville

TIGERVILLE -- USCB had to come from behind twice to tie the game in up in game one, but a costly wild pitch gave the Crusaders a one-run victory in game one and North Greenville took game two to a score of 16-0 to wrap up the three-game set Saturday.

Julian Galassi, Hunter Miller, and Anothy Storzieri each recorded two hits and Brayton Wilmes was tabbed with the tough loss after going five innings, allowing five runs, all earned on five hits while striking out five.

North Greenville jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first three innings, but USCB came right back to tie it in the fourth inning after Biggs picked up an RBI single and Leland and Phillips earned bases loaded walks. However, the Crusaders used a big inning of their own in the bottom half of the inning scoring four runs to take a 7-3 lead.

After a scoreless fifth, Beaufort scored four runs thanks to some poor UNG defense. Wilmes shut down the Crusaders in the bottom half of the sixth, but a wild pitch in the seventh was the one that counted as UNG held on for an 8-7 game one victory.

The Crusaders scored five runs in the first two innings and then added three in the fourth and fifth inning before adding eight in the sixth and seventh to make it 16-0.

USCB returns to Hardeeville on Tuesday for a midweek contest with Francis Marion. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
