Baseball erupts for 12 runs, sweep series with Edward Waters

JACKSONVILLE -- USCB baseball scored five unanswered runs in the eighth and ninth inning and the Sand Sharks' bullpen worked a scoreless final two innings to come from behind and defeat the Tigers 12-7 Tuesday night in Jacksonville. 
 
USCB cracked the scoreboard in the first after Mack Cromer doubled to center, but the Tigers answered with a big inning after Anthony Roman hit a grand slam to left. Hunter Miller trimmed the lead to one with a single to right that scored two, however Edward Waters homered again to make it 5-3. 
 
Beaufort added three in the fifth after Tyler Kennedy and Seth Robinson collected RBI base knocks. Kennedy added another RBI in the seventh. EWU hit its third home run of the night in the bottom half of the inning to knot the game at seven. 
 
The Sand Sharks pushed across five runs over the final two innings and Aiden Cooper (3-0) worked a scoreless eighth and Avery Sikes closed the door to end the game. 
 
USCB begins Peach Belt play this weekend hosting Georgia Southwestern for a three-game slate. The series opens Friday night with a 6 p.m. scheduled first pitch.
