Multiple PRs, top five finishes for USCB at Bob Hayes Invite

JACKSONVILLE -- USCB's track and field team set multiple personal bests and four top five finishes yesterday as the Sand Sharks took the the track for the first time in the outdoor season at the Bob Hayes Invitational in Jacksonville.

Michael Martello collected three top five finishes in the discus, hammer, and shot put. His 47.70m throw in the hammer event broke the previous school record, earning him a third place finish. The Beaufort native finished fifth in both the discus and shot put with a distance of 41.91m and 13.59 respectively. Cameron Edwards finished fifth in both the long and triple jumps with distances of 6.39m and 13.85m. Ramon White posted a personal best in the men's 200 posting a time of 23.81 second while pole vaulter Zack Markow finished in the top 10 with a PR of 3.50m.

On the women's side, sprinter Marcela Shartouny notched a personal best in the 200m dash finishing with a time of 28.06 seconds. Sophia Stalford collected two PRs in the discus and shot put with throws of 34.08m in the discus and 8.82m in the shot.

USCB returns to the track this weekend as it travels to just down I95 and I16 to Statesboro to compete in the Georgia Southern Relays beginning Friday the 22nd.
