Play Snake Farm! Baseball walks off Cane’s twice to take series

HARDEEVILLE -- After Saturday's series opening loss to Georgia Southwesten, USCB walked off the #16 Hurricanes in back-to-back games to claim the series Sunday night at the Richard Gray Sports Complex in Hardeeville.

Game two of the series was an extra inning affair that saw USCB take the lead in the middle innings and then pull off a thrilling walk off win via a Hunter Miller base on balls. Tyler Kennedy got the 10th started with an RBI single and Aiden Driscoll-Sadusky was hit by a pitch to knot the game at five. Miller looked at 3-1 fast ball go high and outside and then Beaufort dugout stormed after their right fielder following the victory.

The flair for the dramatics continued in the series finale. USCB jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first after two RBI ground outs. GSW scored a single run in the second, but the Sand Sharks answered scoring on a wild pitch. A three-run fourth pushed the Canes ahead for the first time, but USCB countered and tied it again after Miller's run scoring double.

Georgia Southwestern plated single runs in the middle innings, but Beaufort continued to battle back scoring two in the sixth. Ian Barnes (2-1) who already picked up the win in the first game entered the ninth and worked a scoreless half inning, setting the stage for USCB's offense in the bottom of the ninth. Carson Phillips tripled to right center with one out and Julian Galassi sent the first pitch he saw through the 5-6 hole, allowing Phillips to walk home and giving Beaufort its second walk off win of the day.

The Sand Sharks travel to Milledgeville to complete the home/road series with Middle Georgia before returning to Richard Gray this weekend Georgia College.
