Ford, Stalford lead way as Sand Sharks post multiple PRs at PBC Championship

DAYTONA BEACH -- Sophomore duo of Leeaisha Ford and Sophia Stalford led the way for USCB's women's track and field team this week at the Peach Belt Conference Championships as both athletes stood on the podium in one of their respective events as the Sand Sharks finished eighth, scoring 23 points in the season's final meet.

Ford set a PR during the prelims of the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.34 and then finished third in the finals with a time of 15.79. The Conway native also competed in the 200m dash and in the discus, finishing 7th and 13th respectively in those events. Stalford earned the silver in the discus finishing with a 34.74m throw - setting one of two personal records on the day - and she finished sixth in the hammer throw with a distance of 35.31m, her second PR of the day, and 10th in the shot put at 9.01m.

In the track events, Aniah Wright posted a time of 1:14.89 in the 400m hurdles while Taylor Atkinson (2:36.70, 800m), Sofia Mejia (5:54.53, 1500m), and Cydney Stevenson (46:28.34, 10,000m) rounded out the field. De'Andra Brown (10.51m) finished 8th in the triple jump while Hannah Hoffman finished 9th in the long jump with a 5.04m distance.
