Women's Track and Field have strong outing at Mondo College Invite

WINSTON-SALEM -- The USCB women's track and field team is very young, but with a number of upper classmen there to anchor the youth the Sand Sharks had a strong start to its 2025 portion of the indoor season.

Competing in nine different events, the highlight of the day came by junir De'Andra Brown who broke the indoor shot put record with a 9.64m throw, surpassing her teammate Sophia Stalford's record of 9.13m set last season. Brown also scored in the long jump posting a mark of 14' 2. Stalford finished the shot put event with a 8.68m throw and then followed that up in the weight throw with a 8.88m throw.

In the track events, 4x400 relay team of Kate Curry, Kennedy Kiel, Maggie Olsen, and Kasey Thompson finished 12th overall with a time of 4:36.99. LeeAisha Ford posted a time of 10.02 in the 60m hurdles while Cydney Stevenson finished the 3000m race with a time of 12:14.64. Four Sand Sharks posted personal bests in their respective events as Selena Cobbs (9.51) and Giana McNeil (9.23) posted PRs in the 60m dash and James Bullard (34.11) and McNeil (31.62) did the same in the 200m while Curry (2:02.04) posted hers in the 600m.

Beaufort is back in action this weekend as it will travel to the Florida Collegiate Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
