DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The University of South Carolina Beaufort women's track and field team closed out the Peach Belt Conference Championship on Saturday evening, finishing fifth overall with 74 points. The Sand Sharks recorded one conference champion and six podium finishes to highlight their performance.
Grace Wolfe claimed the conference title in the heptathlon, scoring a total of 3,945 points. She won four of the seven events to secure the victory. De'Andra Brown finished second in the heptathlon with 3,760 points, adding to the Sand Sharks' scoring effort.
In the shot put, USCB earned two podium finishes. Victoria Colon placed second with a throw of 11.74 meters, while Patton Casto followed in third with a mark of 11.54 meters.
Victoria Ingram led the Sand Sharks in the triple jump, finishing fifth with a mark of 11.25 meters. In another field event Patton Casto placed seventh in the discus throw scoring for the Sand Sharks in the event.
The 4x100-meter relay team placed fifth overall with a time of 48.44 seconds. Priscilla Rodriguez also earned a fifth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles finals, clocking in at 15.18 seconds.
In the 400 meters, Maggie Olsen reached the finals and placed eighth with a time of 1:13.82.
USCB had three athletes score in the 400-meter hurdles, led by Olsen's second-place finish in 1:03.01. Hannah Burnside placed fifth in 1:05.19, and Priscilla Rodriguez finished eighth in 1:10.92.
The Sand Sharks capped off the meet with a fourth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, posting a time of 4:02.37.
De'Andra Brown was also named to the Peach Belt Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
