Amphlett, Page score as Sand Sharks blank Lions

BLUFFTON -- Backed by Savanna Page's seventh career game-winning goal and Izzy Amphlett's first two collegiate goals in the second half, USCB wrapped up its quick two-game home stand with a 3-0 win over Emmanuel Wednesday afternoon at Fin Land Field.

Page netted her 20th career goal just 11 minutes into the contest and the Lions recorded an own goal to open the second period. Amphlett picked up her first goal in the 62nd minute finding the back of the net on a cross from Kassi Martin. Eight minutes the Oxford native made it 3-0 after connecting with Sophia Willis.

"We set the tone Saturday against King," interim head coach Dan Huff said. "We executed our game plan precisely and that allowed us to plug in different pieces to get us prepared for the road trip this weekend."

The Sand Sharks picked up right where they left off Saturday, controlling possession from the opening kickoff. Synne Bye-Andersen almost put Beaufort up 1-0 within the first 10 seconds of the match, but the Lions' A'Leigh Coleman came up with the save and followed that up with two more saves over the next three minutes. USCB out shot Emmanuel 19-3 during the first half and 29-5 overall; 22 of those shots were on goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Ciazia Powe picked up her first win between the pipes and Graysen Asher made her return to the pitch after suffering an injury at the end of last season. Both made one save a piece.

USCB hits the road for two contests with Sunshine State Conference members Lynn and Palm Beach Atlantic this weekend. Saturday's game with the Fighting Knights is scheduled for 6 p.m. in Boca Raton.
