Game Recap: Men's Basketball | | Brackin Lambert

Men's Basketball runs win streak to four, surpasses PBC win total from last year

BLUFFTON -- The USCB men's basketball team has surpassed its overall win total last Saturday with its win over GSW, but after claiming a 97-90 win over Georgia College Wednesday, the Sand Sharks have eclipse its conference win total from last year.

Hudson Norton led the way offensively for USCB, posting a team-high 18 points. Three others scored in double-figurers as Kevaughn Price (14), Alejandro Ralat (12), and Dominic Eason (11) each had double-digit performances.

Paladugu got things going for USCB draining down a three-pointer and a back-and-forth battle commenced throughout the first half. Gaines electrified the Frenzy with a steal and the slam dunk to give the Sand Sharks an early lead. Zyair Greene tied the game with a triple and GCSU took the lead on the next possession. The lead continued to flip, and it was Price who knocked down back-to-back three balls to give Beaufort the lead at the eight-minute media time out. Alejandro Ralat got in on the long ball action connecting with a trice from the wing.

The Sand Sharks lead shrunk to three with under five to play in the half but Krishen Atwal's jumper made it a two score game. Ralat's second three-pointer made the score 44-39 and Norton's floater ended the half with Beaufort up 46-39.

USCB scored a quick 14 points prior to the first media timeout and led 60-51. Back-to-back threes from Norton put the lead into double-figures. The Sand Sharks went on a small cold spell as GCSU cut the lead back to two scores, but strong defense and couple of turnovers kept the lead at five at the four-minute media timeout. Oscar Lynch hit a trice to making it 88-86 but Eason countered with his own triple and then the connection of Norton and Gaines threw down a thunderous alley-oop, sending shoc kwaves through the Cove.

The Sand Sharks held off thd Bobcats as the clock winded down and after it read zeroes, USCB claimed victory.

Beaufort remains at home this Saturday for a match up against No. 22 North Georgia. Tipoff is slated for 3:30 inside the Cove.
