BLUFFTON, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Men's Golf team is set to compete in a Division I-heavy tournament field featuring 12 NCAA Division I programs, along with two NCAA Division II teams, including USCB.
The Sand Sharks will travel to Statesboro, Georgia, for the Bash in the Boro, hosted by NCAA Division I Georgia Southern University. The majority of the field consists of Division I programs, including: University of Richmond, George Washington, Marshall University, Appalachian State, Florida A&M, Winthrop, Middle Tennessee, Jacksonville State, Campbell University, Providence College, and Augusta University, which sponsors a Division I golf program. The two Division II schools in the field are USCB and Catawba College.
The opening round of the Bash in the Boro begins on Monday and marks the third tournament of the fall season for the Sand Sharks. The team has previously finished seventh as a team in the season-opening Mizuno Invitational, followed by a fourth-place finish at the Hurricane Invitational.
Octavio Laurent has recorded the team's top individual finish so far, earning runner-up honors at the Hurricane Invitational. His performance also earned him Peach Belt Golfer of the Week recognition.
The tournament will consist of three rounds played over two days, beginning Monday, October 13, and concluding on Tuesday, October 14 for the final 18 holes.
