FRIPP ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort (USCB) Men's Golf team wrapped up the first two rounds of the Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite, a three-round tournament held at the Fripp Island Ocean Point Golf Course. This year marks the inaugural edition of the event, hosted by Golfweek for NCAA Division II programs. The Sand Sharks finished day one in ninth place overall.
In the invite Golfweek is offering an exemption into a PGA Tour event, such as the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, to the individual winner of the three-round invite. The field includes several of the top teams in Division II.
Georgia Southwestern leads the tournament after two rounds with a team score of 565 (282-283). The individual leader is Oscar Hammar, who posted a total score of 136.
Leading the way for USCB is Christofer Hammar, who is tied for sixth overall after finishing the day two under par. He shot a 142 total, including a five-under-par 67 in round two. Hammar also tied for the team lead with 22 pars and led the team with nine birdies.
Octavio Laurent followed behind, finishing at one under par (143 total). After opening with a 74 in round one, Laurent improved in round two with a three-under-par round. He is tied for ninth overall, tallying 19 pars, eight birdies, and one eagle. He was one of three Sand Sharks to record an eagle, joined by Jan Ciric and Nikolai Holme.
Jan Ciric finished tied for 55th overall with a total of 153, best round was a 75 in the opening round. Ciric recorded 15 pars and seven birdies over the two rounds.
Dylan Allen was fourth for the team with a two-round total of 154, posting his best round in the morning with a 74. He added five birdies and 19 pars across the day.
Rounding out the lineup was Nikolai Holme, who shot a 156 (72-84). He tied for the team high with 22 pars and also added four birdies, and had the lowest round in the first round for the Sand Sharks.
The Sand Sharks will return to action Tuesday morning to conclude the final round of the Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite.
