Laurent Finishes Top-10 for USCB Men’s Golf at Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite

FRIPP ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA – The University of South Carolina Beaufort men's golf team closed out the two-day, three-round Fripp Island to Bermuda Invite at the Fripp Island Ocean Point Golf Course, hosted by Golfweek.

As part of the event, Golfweek is offering an exemption into a PGA Tour tournament, such as the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, to the individual winner of the three-round invite. The field included several of the top teams in NCAA Division II.

The Sand Sharks finished 12th overall with a three-round total of 889 highlighted by a team best round of 293 (295-293-301). As a team, USCB recorded 142 pars, 51 birdies, and three eagles over the course of the tournament.

Lee University captured the team title with a total score of 839. Drew Zielinski of Lee University earned individual honors winning the player leaderboard, finishing nine-under-par after three rounds.

USCB was led by Octavio Laurent, who posted a strong top-10 finish, placing tied for seventh overall at two-under-par (214). Laurent's best round was a 69 (-3), and he finished with 27 pars, 14 birdies,the third most in the field, and one eagle, which came on hole 18 in the first round.

Christofer Hammar placed 43rd with a total score of 223. He posted the lowest individual round for USCB with a 67 in the second round. Hammar recorded a team-high 31 pars and added 10 birdies throughout the event.

Dylan Allen tied for 56th place with a total of 227. His best rounds came in the first and third, where he shot 74 in each. Allen contributed 28 pars and 11 birdies.

Nikolai Holme carded a three-round total of 231, finishing 65th overall. His best round came in the opener with an even-par 72. Holme recorded 30 pars, eight birdies, and an eagle on hole four during the first round.

Jan Ciric placed 69th with a total score of 234. His best round was a 75 in the opener. Ciric tallied 26 pars, eight birdies, and added an eagle on hole four in round two.

This marks the final fall tournament for the USCB men's golf team. The team will return to competition at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, hosted by Georgia Southern, set for January 30–February 1.
