USCB Soccer Earns Road Point in Tie with Bobcats

MILLEDGEVILLE, GEORGIA – The Sand Sharks women's soccer team battled Georgia College & State University to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon, with both teams earning a point in the Peach Belt Conference standings.

"I was really proud of the team's resolve today. A couple things
didn't go our way, we adjusted and made some slight changes,
and I felt tilted the game in our favor in the second half"
stated head coach Gary Boughton.

USCB struck first early in the second half when Jasiah Pack scored off a header following a free kick, assisted by Sami Ruby. The Bobcats responded in the 73rd minute to even the match.

The opening half was a defensive battle. Georgia College & State had the first attempt in the 2nd minute, though it went off target. Powe recorded her first save in the 21st minute off a shot from Sarah King. USCB led in shots at the break, 4-3, with three of those on target. The score remained 0-0 at halftime.

Early in the second half, the Sand Sharks capitalized on a throw-in that led to a foul and a free kick. Off the set piece, Pack headed in the opening goal from Ruby's assist, putting USCB ahead 1-0.
