Edwards breaks triple jump record at Liberty

LYNCHBURG -- Cam Edwards broke his own triple jump record with a 14.11m mark as USCB track and field wrapped up the regular indoor season this weekend at the Liberty Open in Lynchburg.

"It was a solid team showing for both of our teams," said head coach Terica Harris.

Zach Sellers and Bryson Shears finished in the in the top 40 of the of a field with over 100 athletes in the open heat of the 200m. On the women's side, Dionna Rivers' solid performance kept her top 10 in the conference in the 60m and 200m dash.

Samuel Mitchell finished 11th overall in the long jump, posting a new personal best with a 6.72m jump. Edwards finished 12th overall in the a field of 53. Mitchell also finished in the top 9 in the triple jump with a jump of 14.05.

De'Andra Brown made her debut in the high jump and secured her spot in the conference tournament while also adding herself to the record book with a 1.40m mark.

USCB will next compete at the Peach Belt Conference Indoor Championships next weekend.
